Exercise: "Medicine Ball Russian Twists" by Sruthan Wants Abs

More info / tips / proper technique:

Medicine Ball Russian twists are an especially good exercise for the oblique abs, but like many other medicine ball exercises, also work the whole abdominal muscular area.

Begin sitting with your legs outstretched, knees slightly bent, ankles crossed, and feet and legs up off the ground (see photos below). Do not move your legs during the exercise -- use your abs to stabilize them up and centered. Hold the exercise ball around upper-chest height in front of you. Firm your abs and make sure to use them for your movements throughout this exercise. Pivoting at your hips, using your oblique abdominal muscles to drive the movement, swing at a controlled speed as close as you can comfortable go toward 90 degrees to your right. Hold the rotation for a count of two and then swing back to center, pause briefly, then swing 90 degree left, hold that rotation for a count of two, and then back to center. One center-right-center-left-center movement is ONE rep.

Use a weight of medicine ball that challenges you to near failure between 8-15 reps.
